Pete and I love looking out for new, independent magazines to read; you know, the ones with the pretty covers, that look great on your coffee table, have awesome photographs in and stunning articles across a range of topics.

Having visited magazine shops in other countries while travelling the world, our love of independent magazines was fanned into flame. We’ve recently picked up a few covers including Lodestars AnthologyWilder and Ernest from our Winchester favourite, The Hambledon, and I’d managed to find Darling, Kinfolk and Cereal in Anthropologie in London, but we were sure there had to be a major independent magazine stockist knocking around in the UK.

That’s when I remembered a youtube video by one of my favourites, Estee Lalonde, a few months ago showing her favourite places to pick up magazines in London – specifically around Soho. Being in London at the weekend, what better opportunity to go in search of magazine heaven, stopping off at Wardour News, in the heart of Soho. Stocking an exclusive range of multi-national fashion, art, design, travel and architecture magazines, Wardour News is home to more magazines than I could have anticipated existed.

Wardour News is my new magazine hotspot and I’m anticipating a visit every time I’m in the big city!

I spotted some old favourites, staples I thought you could only get in the UK via the web (such as Offscreen), as well as a whole bunch of magazines I’d never seen before, and oh boy were they pretty! I found it so difficult to stick to only buying the covers we’d set out to buy. I could create a Christmas list of 20 or so magazines I’d love to take home or to a coffee shop to read over a chai latte.

I met the owner Raj, who was so lovely and passionate about bringing the best quality prints to the shelves of his shop. If ever you’re in London, be sure to pay Wardour News a visit, I can guarantee you’ll pick up some beautiful reading material!
