Floral Fridays // Poppies

Floral Friday - The Project Lifestyle

Poppies have become the iconic symbol for remembrance and hope.In the spring of 1915, shortly after losing a friend in Ypres, a Canadian doctor, Lt Col John McCrae was inspired by the sight of poppies growing in battle scared fields, to write a now famous poem called ‘In Flanders Fields’. After the First World War, the poppy was adopted as a symbol of Remembrance.

Beautiful flowers, that happen to be the favourite of many, poppies make a stunning addition to any arrangement and they don’t just come in red! Here are some of my favourites for poppy lovers:

First up, this beautiful bunch! I just love this vibrant arrangement of reds and pinks. The large petals create such a dynamic texture.

Next up screams birthday, or party! This fun arrangement is accentuated by the bright coloured flowers and complimentary ribbons.

Sometimes simplicity is key… Poppies and Ranunculus.

I include the next one for nostalgia as my Mum and Dad used to have these wild poppies growing in their front garden.

Have you included poppies in an arrangement? If so, I’d love to see your pictures!
