I love independent, boutique hotels so when I came across Number 38 Clifton, near Bristol, I knew I had to visit!
Arriving at the historic townhouse hotel we were welcomed in the lounge, greeted by the relaxed seating, beautiful blooms, independent artwork and neutral decor; just my kind of hotel.
Our room was the East Loft Suite, right at the top of the building. Running the full length of the building, the suite was split between a beautiful big bedroom and a luxury bathroom, with a very impressive bath.
Just like the lounge below, the decor was simple yet elegant, with a luxury feel. The room was very calming and neutral with ambient lighting. I loved the Farrow and Ball grey tones on the walls, the black upholstery, the natural hessian and wooden flooring and the white bed linens, towels and robes.
Little touches had clearly been thought about, from the bath robes and slippers to the Ren toiletries; the vintage radio playing Classic FM on arrival to the historic books about Bristol, this hotel was certainly all about the personal touches.
From our super comfortable bed, we could see out to Clifton Downs, a lush, green park space where runners and dog walkers alike spend their mornings and from the bathroom, we could see the pastel hues of Clifton houses.
The bath had to be one of the main highlights of the room and I was sure to try it out with lots of bubbles and a G&T!
In the morning we went down to breakfast and enjoyed a selection of fruit and pastries before smashed avocado on toast with crispy bacon and grilled tomatoes, yum! It was the perfect way to start our day exploring Clifton and the rest of Bristol before heading off to our next destination on our UK road trip.
If unique, luxury, independent hotels are your thing, then I’m sure Number 38 Clifton will definitely be your cup of tea!
We’d highly recommend a stay there and would love to return some day ourselves (maybe near the Bristol Balloon Festival, which we missed out on this year by a couple of weeks!)
Thank you Number 38 Clifton for a lovely stay!
