Cold and frosty mornings are expected of mid-winter days, but the mild winter we’ve seen this year has meant that certain flowers have opened up their shoots a lot earlier than usual. Seeing fields and fields of daffodils at the weekend on our trip to Jersey reminded me how much I love the brightness of yellow flowers!
As a child I have fond memories of picking beautiful daffodils from my Grandad’s garden. He used to grow all different varieties, each with their own delicate petals of different shapes, sizes and colours.
The appearance of these early blooms has shed a hint of light on the spring that is to come…
At the moment I’m loving yellow, particularly bright yellow – the kind a child would use to colour in the sun, or the classic bright colour of the smiley emoji ☺️! There are loads of beautiful yellow flowers, so why not sit back with a cup of tea, take a break and enjoy these yellow throwback blooms from my instagram and some others that I found on the internet this week!
Spring is on it’s way ?
In-keeping with the fields of daffodils which were my inspiration for this post, my first picture is a beautiful field of field mustard:
I love this image from Hide. The vibrant colours of the mustard flowers are just so beautiful! It takes me back to summer when I visited a field of rapeseed in the New Forest:
Next up we have my current favourite flower – Mimosa (not to be confused with the cocktail variety!) These little pops of yellow are so sweet and fun and smell amazing! I can’t wait to get my hands on some this year!
I love these beautiful large, open yellow roses; an all time classic with a burst of life:
Floral Friday wouldn’t be a Floral Friday without some roses.
Pair yellow roses with yellow lillies and add a pop of orange, and you get this beautiful combo to brighten up your home and bring the sunshine inside:
Tulips are simply the best at saying ‘classic springtime’ and these yellow tulips say it all:
Finally, looking further ahead to summer, a post about yellow blooms HAD to include sunflowers. Plant them in the garden and see whether they grow taller than yourself, eat the seeds in culinary delights and enjoy on your windowsill; sunflowers are a lot of fun!
