Favourite Christmas Movies

Christmas 2015 - The Project Lifestyle

At Christmastime I love to settle down for the evening under a cosy blanket by the fire to watch classic Christmas movies. I know everyone has their particular favourites but I thought I’d share my top 5!

Credible mentions that didn’t quite make the top 5: The Snowman, The Muppet Christmas Carol, A Charlie Brown Christmas and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (for Pete).

5. Narnia – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Although not necessarily that Christmassy, the snowy scenes in the enchanting Narnia does evoke a wintery and festive feeling. It’s an all time family favourite and a classic story of how good prevails over evil.

4. Miracle on 34th Street.
Such a heart-warmer,  6 year-old Susan is skeptical about the existence of Santa Claus until she meets the kind faced Kris Kringle. Can Susan help to prove the existence of this age-old legend?

3. Love Actually.
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a viewing of this funny RomCom. Nine intertwined stories examine the complexities of the one emotion that connects us all: love. It’s a film that tugs at the heart strings and stirs up your emotions as you anticipate how each of the stories will end.

2. It’s a Wonderful Life.
An absolute classic! This black and white film is one of my favourite oldies. Lead character George gets a fresh look at life after feeling suicidal in this compelling and moving film. Favourite quote: “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings”.

Christmas Movies

1. Elf.
A naive human that has been raised by Santa and his elves in the North Pole goes to New York City in search of his father. A film full of fun, joy and laughter, it’s a must-watch for me! “Santa, I know him!”

I know Christmas was a while ago now…. but my favourite Christmas movie is Santa Claus: The Movie. A classic from the 80s, this movie starts off with Santa’s origin story and ends with Santa vs. Evil Toy-making Corporation.

I particularly like the cheesy tune the elves dance to and the fantastic animatronic reindeers.
