Bern: The Swiss Capital - The Project Lifestyle

The Swiss capital of Bern is perfect for those interested in shopping. The main streets are lined with an abundance of shops; fine fashion boutiques, ancient antique shops and fragrant florists.

“It is the most beautiful that we have ever seen,” wrote Johann Wolfgang von Goethe during his stay in Bern in 1779.

Many of the main attractions of Bern sit just off the main street such as the Clock Tower and the Grossmünster Cathedral. Other notable things to see in Bern are the Houses of Parliament, the Rose Gardens and the Bear Park – yes, they have real bears!

Accenting the beauty of Bern is the Swiss’ love for flowers. The Rose gardens with a beautiful view over Bern is host to beautiful blooms. Further into the city, tiered gardens stepping down from beautiful houses overlooking the river sit within a few hundred metres of the abundance of trees that line the gardens by the Grossmünster cathedral.

The florists of Bern also host much beauty. There is an elegance in the layout of the floristry shops throughout the city where you can tell great thought and intricate design has gone into each and every display. The florists tell a story through their shop windows using an array of colours, shapes, and sizes of perfectly pruned posies, each of them elegant and enticing to the passer-by.
